Ahead of "Doom", users of Windows XP Still Plenty
Jakarta - A month before the "death", the older operating system of Microsoft, Windows XP, it is still quite widely used by consumers.
According to Net Market, as quoted from ArsTechnica, Friday (14/03/2014), the market share of Windows XP globally for the whole operating system in February 2014 period amounted to 29.53 percent.
Instead of declining in the days before the termination of the support of Microsoft, Windows XP's market share is actually showed a slight increase from the previous month. In January, according to Net Market, Windows XP holds 29.23 percent, an increase of 0.3 percent.
Meanwhile, Windows 8 still seems quiet enthusiasts. The market share for the operating system at 6.38 percent, down 0.25 percent from January.
The market share seems to migrate to Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 8.1. In February, the market share of the operating system increased by 4.3 percent, from 3.95 percent in January.
Overall, the operating system most widely used today is Windows 7 with a market share of 47.31 percent.
Apple's operating system, OS X, holds a 7.69 percent share of the global market.
Windows XP itself has been around for 13 years since it was launched in 2001. Once Microsoft stop technical support on 8 April 2014, the security holes in the operating system will not be patched again so potentially opening security holes.
