Jakarta - Twitter some time ago reportedly bought 900 patents owned by IBM. This is done so that they are not sued the multinational technology company.

This transaction is related to a patent dispute, in which Twitter is most likely violating IBM's intellectual property. By buying IBM patents, Twitter became a way to avoid prosecution.

There was infringed patents as reported previously, among others, U.S. patents 6,957,224 relating to the 'efficient retrieval of uniform resource locators', patent 7,072,849 on "Method for presenting advertising in an interactive service 'and the number 7,099,862 matter' programmatic discovery of common contacts'.
