Barcelona - Facebook made a surprise acquisition by annexing WhatsApp of USD 19 billion or Rp 209 trillion (exchange rate of Rp 11,000). Part of the price for very fantastic, but not according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
"In my opinion, even WhatsApp worth more than USD 19 billion," he said, during a speech at the opening of the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, Spain, reported by CBS News, Tuesday (02/25/2014).
Zuckerberg explained, WhatsApp offers value not only as a standalone company, but also as part of a larger strategy for Facebook.
"WhatsApp is an interesting application in the mobile phone so far. And it became one way to connect with billions of people," he added.
Zuckerberg also pledged Facebook is not going to fool around with the data WhatsApp policy, in which the company does not store the content of its message.
He also promised not to take money in the near future from WhatsApp, as it is feared all along. Zuckerberg will only develop synergies within the next five years.
